~About the last thing I expected this afternoon~

Was Possum getting a call to say that they were 'delighted' to be able to offer him an interview for the job he applied for last week :D

WOW! Just that he has been chosen over so many others is mind blowing :D :D :D

Even just getting to this stage is phenomenal

Go Possum!!!

Tuesday is the big day ♥

Just a health update, nothing exciting...

So I had my follow up appointment with my GP.

I did a lot of thinking before I went, which is pretty usual for me, must analyze the situation and all that

I was tossing up antidepressants, while depression isn't creating the snoring/extreme fatigue it is becoming a side effect - I am not even close to living a normal life - and it distresses me to have to accept it

My GP doesn't want me on antidepressants, he doesn't think it will help, nor does he think stronger sleeping tablets are the go - not yet anyway.

My next strategy is to try a mandibular splint (mouthguard), or a chin strap - both of these put your jaw slightly forward which stops you from snoring.

He explained to me, that in women especially, of my age especially that snoring increases your cortisol levels, which causes weight gain - I snore A LOT - no wonder I am so massively overweight (for me).

It's hard to tell if the Thyroxine is working yet or not, although when I am actually awake I am clearer in my mind and the thought of having to do something extra in my day isn't overwhelming to the point of tears

I'm still not able to go to the gym, but I am having better days (make that better afternoons) here and there, and so manage to get a little bit more done around the house - if I could get just a little more sleep and not have to go back to bed in the morning this may be possible soon
I have ordered a chin strap, and am considering buying a less expensive mouth guard from the 'net and trying it first, before going to any expense at the dentist - our Medibank Private gives us a whopping 85% of most dental expenses (I know, frikken awesome eh)....even so if I find I can't tolerate wearing it there's no point spending any more than I have to

~Seriously??~WALK A MILE.......

Reading a blog the other day via someone elses, via someone elses.....which is beside the point....
They wrote a list of things they hate
That's completely their choice, being their blog and all, we all have a right to an opinion, and I had the option to stop reading.....

One of the things they had written made me wonder
If you say you "Hate' people that weigh over a certain amount doesn't that make you 'fat-ist' or 'obese-ist' - you are assuming that every single person that is overweight is the same then??

Does anyone REALLY and honestly think (in this day and age) that by packing up people who are over a certain weight and sending them to a 3rd world country to starve that it would solve the issue?
Could anyone be that uneducated?

Does anyone REALLY think that people that weigh over '300lb' would be happy about it and WANT to be that big??? I would put money on it that if you asked them 9/10 would say they are unhappy.
Or is unhappy a 'label'???

Several of the other things on the list also point to a very lucky person not to have had to deal with certain things in their life, or had children that have had to deal with it. (Eating disorders, anxiety, ADD etc etc)
And No I'm not going to fall into their trap and comment on the blog of someone that just want to insult others for a reaction
They appear to like an argument for arguments sake, and I'm not interested.
Won't be reading that blog again I can tell you!!!
If these are some of the things this person is willing to post in public then we can only imagine what was left out......
One of the commenters is clearly equally lucky to have 'normal' kids as she made a remark about 'drugging them up' (kids) and sending them to school instead of dealing with them or something like that - half of the  fucking reason we parents with kids that need 'drugging up' do so is because of people like HER and her 'normal' kids!!!!!

Idiom Definitions for 'Walk a mile in my shoes'

This idiom means that you should try to understand someone before criticising them.

I suppose the same person doesn't believe in CFS either. That's fine you come around and watch me cry when my 16 year old son has both his best friend, and another friend here visiting from New Zealand, and they are watching a funny movie and having a ball.......and he has to go to bed in the middle of it.
Perhaps CFS is just another 'label'?

Rant over. Had to get that off my chest.

1316....

1316 words written, resume updated, application form filled out.....

Ray - Possum's former teacher/interviewer from college/guy who sits on interview panels for the education dept but is now retired....looked over Possums application and added some extra stuff in red font for Possum to consider - he used all of the suggestions and it enabled us to finish and be happy with the end result...

We emailed Ray to thank him again for his valuable opinion - he replied and wished Possum well - and added that there have been MANY applicants from ALL OVER THE COUNTRY for this job.....so not to take it personally if he isn't selected even for an interview as they usually only interview 5 people.....just the fact that he knows this and still has his education dept email address means he's still in the loop as well..

He would be on bloody good money for a 19 year old! (minimum 44k)
And the job is permanent, no worrying what to do at the end of the year.
Ironically he finishes his traineeship on the 15th of Feb - and Small Man starts college on the 15th of Feb.....

Oh well, you have to be in it to win it - I'm not getting his hopes up too much - I just said......

'Why not you Poss?'

Oohhhwahhh....

No really, it is all ok - just a few bumps in the road - of course - a lack of bumps would be good for a while though.....

Possum's traineeship runs out SOON (in a few weeks)
It doesn't lead onto another job - he may be unemployed for a while :(

I was bored off my goard the other night while the cricket was on - (sorry I don't do footy or cricket, un Australian? possibly in that regard!!)

So I did the rounds of the job boards - and found THE ONE on the government website - it would be so ideal....a follow on from what he is doing, in that he is currently working at Primary/High School and this job is at a College - ironically the same College Small Man will be attending this year.....yep really!!

He made a huge start to his application last night - and was going to ask Chris, a guy at work who is a year ahead of Poss (he was the trainee the year before Possum) to check his 'addressing of criteria' which basically requires almost a full page of writing per criteria and examples of work you have done.....

He sent me a msg this morning at 9am - Chris has applied for the job too :(

I am just hoping that Possum's interview is better, or that his application is more what they are looking for, or something.
Chris has a permanent full time job already, earning good money etc.......

May the best nerd win I say :D

****Added at 9.25pm ****
p.s. Since writing this I have sought the advice of a now retired ex interviewer/IT teacher that we have a lot of respect for - he helped Possum prepare for his interview for the traineeship - he is going to have a look at his application before we send it - which will be tomorrow.
I also found some help/a guide to addressing criteria which is like gold - now I know what to do.
Basically I have asked Possum to give me the raw info - and I will put it together and edit it etc
Did I mention it's over 20 years since I went to school......this sort of stuff fries the brain, good job I love the boy so much eh ♥

~ I WILL Survive ~

I don't even care that it's 32.4 c degrees here at present (90.32 f)

Because I feel a bit better.....

We have a different heat to say Queensland for example - it's not the same humid heat - it's drier.

I have had several good afternoons in a row.

I have been able to 'do stuff' and not drag myself there and back in an extreme mental fog.

Things feel like much less of an effort.

I went to the gym the other day - but came home and felt a bit yuk an hour or so later - then fell asleep at some ridiculous time of the day - but I will try again

I stuffed up though, I looked up pension payment weeks on the 'net so as to work out ordering for this year - and got it wrong - so I will have to have orders go through two weeks in a row instead of back to fortnightly - goddammit!!!
No-one said a bloody word until today.......how the fuck am I supposed to know when pension week is???
Oh well, it's done now.

On the topic of pensions Small Man's Job Capacity Assessment seemed to go well yesterday.
The lady was really nice, girl I should say as she was only 25.
It was the first appointment that we have had in god knows how long that I haven't felt brain dead at the end of it.
So now we wait and see.
He's a funny one - he told her he wasn't comfortable 'riding off the back of the government'  - she smiled :D

I am continuing on with my mini spring clean - I am doing whatever thrills me at the time - that could be a cupboard here or a wardrobe/drawer there - random and spasmodic - that is me!!
I went to Godfreys to buy a carpet shampooer - this weekend would have been perfect - but the one I wanted they don't have in stock.....so it will have to wait until mid week next week to get it.
Max - crazy kitten! 10 weeks old.

Max has had a few 'wee' accidents....actually not all of them wee - and even though I have cleaned the carpet it still doesn't feel as clean as it could be (most likely mind over matter but anyway).
He will use his litter tray if we put him on it but isn't taking himself to the litter as yet instead he prefers a corner of the lounge room floor......lucky he's adorable haha!
I thought I may as well buy a shampooer rather than hire, it does hard floors as well which will be handy and for $149 on sale why not!!

~ A Bit Of An Update ~

2010 - The year that was......
Anyone that is friends with me on facebook would have seen this already, but I would like to post it here as this is where I record my thoughts and happenings

Speaking of Facebook it is time for a 'cull' on the 'friends' list think

I'm plodding along - no better, no worse - but sleeping an awful lot

I will have been on all of the new drugs for a week tomorrow

My birthday was pretty much a non event - it was just another day

I am so thankful for Max (my new baby) - he is bringing me so much joy and gives me every reason to smile - a funny little fellow that has all of the other animals bluffed!
Tiny terrorist I call him - he sleeps for hours but when he's awake he's totally crazy, into and on and around everything.
He cries when he is tired/hungry/needs to wee....
The toilet training is, well, hit and miss.....we have had a few accidents as you would expect from a 9 week old kitten.....actually I think he's 10 weeks today.
George is still not a happy chappy, but he is slightly better than last week which is good.

Small Man has a work capacity assessment appointment on Friday - I wonder how that will go?

Anyway, that's about all I have for now,

~It's Been Very Quiet~

Just Small Man and I for the weekend

I just made it to midnight to say Happy New Year to him (he was on the computer, oblivious!)....

He and I aren't into all that stuff - I especially hate the countdown and having to kiss people you don't like....

I deliberately haven't contacted anyone, just replied to emails/texts without a lot of detail

I have no wish to burn my friends out with how I am at the moment

God knows it seems never ending to me so I can imagine it all gets too much for them too

So I have been on my new drugs since Thursday

Thyroxine takes about a week to work

I haven't noticed any huge hormonal swing so that can only be good - last thing I need is to be all teary and pathetic

When I saw the doctor I had gained another 6kg.....it's getting out of control.....none of my clothes fit and I am happier at home than anywhere else

It's my birthday tomorrow - is it bad that I don't want anyone to come around or to do anything aside from having tea with my own family?

I just don't feel like being around anyone else at the moment, it's just too much like hard work right now
