Tolerance

First night on the CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) - Small Man managed to sleep with it ALL night, and in fact is still asleep with it now, at 9.20am....

This is VERY good.

1 in 3 people can't tolerate the CPAP.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he feels over the next few days.

Actually the lady at the CPAP place was pretty fascinated by his story as well, and is very keen to see how he gets on.

I will say though, I can't believe Medicare doesn't offer a cent towards CPAP machines.
What do people do that can't qualify for a 'freebie' through the public hospital, but can't afford $1200 for a machine?

Lucky I have a contingency fund specifically for Small Man's needs, whatever they may be, clothing, vitamins, appointment gaps, trips to the mainland etc etc

This is the machine itself (we are hiring it for a month).
It's about the size of a clock radio, but squarer (is that a word?)....
When we purchase one it will be the next model up from this one.

This is what the mask he has looks like on (just a random guy in the photo).
I've had a few questions about how big the masks are etc, so thought I'd include a pic :)

So far, so good.

Now, for him to wake up........ :)

If anyone has used one of these, or knows of someone that does/has and can give me a rough idea of how long it should take to see some change to his fatigue, please leave me a comment :)

Now we just have to hope it makes the kind of difference for him that we all hope it will.

It can vary from person to person, difficult to tell.
Glad to hear he's enjoyed a full night's sleep straight off!

Jayne ~ Thank you :) I have done some reading on it, and it seems to take at least a week from what I have read
