The stress echocardiogram was fine.

At least I can go on my treadmill without any worries!

It was o.k. for the first two minutes - then the treadmill incline went up and it went faster....
oh my how unfit am I!!!

The only thing he noticed was that it took a bit long for my heart rate to drop back down.

We got onto the smoking 'thing' today.

I had already decided to give the Champix a go - at the end of June - after Z17's birthday - hell I've got the MIL coming....if I didn't smoke I'd probably take it up.....!!!!

He didn't say I HAVE to.
He did say though that I look young for my age (NICE - many points scored there - he he!) the nurse that did all of the strapping on of monitors had the same reaction when I told her I had an almost 18 year old son.....but I could still be effectively taking 15 years off my life if I continue to smoke.....

I'm pleased it was all fine, at least I know 20 years smoking hasn't done my heart any damage.
It is a very difficult thing to explain to someone that has never smoked.

So, still the holter monitor to go.

Pleased todays part of it is over though.

Oh good news G.

Hey, after 28 years of fagging I took Champix and gave up after 11 days on the tablets easy as pie.

Thing is - i didnt really want to quit, truthfully, my kids shamed me into it. I didnt really want to quit and gave it a go. And after 11 days I could not stomach the thought of another smoke. I have not even felt like one since then and that was last september. Just over 8 months now.

If you need any support please dont hesitate to email me. I will help all I can from a distance.

I think you have my email address, if not, just comment my blog with 'do not publish' and send me your email address there.

Lotsa luv

Michelle ~ I am relieved for sure :)

Jac ~ Thank you - gee I hope it doesn't 'beep' or anything - he he!

Jen ~ Thank you so much Jen. I think I have resigned myself to it, and decided the end of June would be a good time....I'm so pleased it worked for you :) I did give up for two years (cold turkey) a bit over ten years ago so I CAN do it. Just so much stress over the last few years...

Kelley ~ I know you do lovely.
I was trying to be all "Who me? Unfit? Never...!!' at the same time thinking it would never end!
My god my legs are aching already, what are they going to be like tomorrow...ha ha!

You can do it. The Evil Twin smoked nearly 2 packs a day for about 20 years. He quit cold turkey about 5 years ago. He said it is tough, but he's resolved to never go back to the cigs.

It's not your heart, my love, that worries me if you smoke. The slow retreat of your heartbeat says, to me anyway, that your oxygen uptake isn't as good as it should be. that, my love, is your lungs and not your heart. Quit smoking. Period.

Please?

Evil Twins Wife ~ Wow, nearly two packs a day....he did extremely well!
I'm at about 15 a day - so should be able to handle it eh!

Lou ~ That was hinted at actually. The doctor was really nice about it all. I'll definitely get help with the quitting this time though :)

Roll on June 30th......

So 20 years of smoking hasn't done your heart any damage. How's your lungs?
I'm terribly unfit myself. I think a treadmill might just finish me off....

River ~ I had a lung function tests a few years ago - it was fine.
I have become very unfit, so that needs to change :)

Champix works wonders, I kicked the smokes almost 8 months ago with it and I haven't looked back.
You'll have amazingly vivid dreams with the Champix, too ! LOL

Lisa ~ Ha ha YES! In discussing this holter monitor Big A asks:
"So does this mean we should have sex tonight...you know...to get your heart rate going??"

My answer: "Dear, they said to do what I NORMALLY do in a day".

Haw haw!
Once a week is about tops with Lichen here.....any more is almost physically impossible.
