Allergy....Intolerance...whatever...

The last few days have been terrible.

These food intolerances are getting worse, and the trouble is I have no idea what the latest culprit is.

The definite list is: Almonds - allergic: Eggs, Coffee, Avocado - intolerant :( I love avocado......

Wednesday night we had grilled steak, mashed potato, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots for tea.

An hour and a half later I tried to pack my order.

Within 20 minutes I was ill.

Sweating, pale, shaking, horrible pain in my stomach and really nauseous.

I had to stop packing or risk throwing up in one of their boxes!

So after lying down for an hour and a half, then picking Z17 up from work I managed to get it done by midnight.

This is getting ridiculous.

I felt like this only not as bad on Monday and Tuesday as well.

Now no-one can say it's stress, as my major stresser has gone, we are a bit better off financially, Small Man is doing well at distance ed, Z17 has finished college and next year is all worked out, work couldn't be better....

It can't/shouldn't be wheat, I had toast late Wednesday night after I started to feel better (bugger the weight I felt sooooo unwell), and have had chicken burritos twice this week (I had them last night knowing I was o.k. with them last time) and nothing happened.
Cheese must be o.k.
Lettuce and tomato must be o.k.

So.

I guess I'll have to give in and go and get allergy testing done.
I'm assuming my GP can organise this.

I felt so bad Wednesday night I was too scared to eat Thursday just in case (luckily I had a few meal replacement shakes left) - well, I could only do that for so long eh!

Whinge whinge......

It's just an awful feeling, like Russian roulette.....just eating tea - I don't do living on the edge - no thanks!!!

So there's another appointment for me to make - bah - have made a Paed appointment for Z17, a GP appointment for Z17, dentist appointments for both boys and organised a prescription repeat over the phone AGAIN (they hadn't done this one from over a week ago when I first rang....) and that's just this week.

Moan moan!

Sounds like an allergy test is a good idea. Poor thing!
At least then you should know what you're dealing with. Hopefully it would make life a bit easier!

Please get the tests done, it's horrible being worried about eating

Grains take a few days to process through the digestive system, so they could possibly still be the culprits, giving you a combined reaction.
Dairy can also give you troubles, in its various forms, as can some spud varieties.
A great allergist who I used to work with treated many patients from Tassie, Dr Colin Little
There's a shedload of things that could be making you ill, best to get on to a specialist asap ;)

Jacqui ~ it's that whole unknown thing....I don't care what I can't have, as long as I know! Thank you

Tania ~ it's one more thing to think about, which at this time of year doesn't fit the schedule ;) I'll try and get an appointment

Jayne ~ I've tried looking into allergists here but haven't come up with much - typical. I went on a gluten free diet for about 4 months a few years ago - didn't notice any significant change to anything. I often wonder if the 'formula' I was given as a baby (carnation milk and pentavite - all they had back then) hasn't contributed to the stomach issues I've had for years.

Oh my girl, I am so sorry to hear that you're experiencing these difficulties. It certainly sounds as though a trip to an allergist is in order. Please be better.

Hmm.. Sorry I missed this post. Sounds like a peculiar list with no real reason. Any chance you could be gluten intolerant? That tends to be an allergy that can be set off years later.

Lou ~ you're just precious, thank you

Dr Cason ~ I tried a gluten free diet a few years ago, and then again recently - I didn't notice a whole lot of difference - I think I'm just weird ;-)
